IT STARTED! rob got it to start then it stopped working, needs to get the fuel pump to work apperently....

Hiya guys as Mark said it ran for a second then went back to the starter motor wirling but the revs went up, i think there may of been a tiny bit of fuel left in the lines which were the reason for it starting, im still trying to find out how to get the fuel pump working... tired wiring to fuse26 didnt work havent tried any other way as ive been doing the brakes and exhaust so the car is now back on the ground... so im optimistic that when i find the right wire for this bloody fuel pump the car should run...

Dunno if this makes any difference, but the car ony ran for a second when i pushed the accelerator in, maybe this was pushing the last bit of fuel through to the engine... ? Anyone with an insight or why they think it only started for a second would be good to hear... there was also a small popping noise and a bit of a smell after it had fired up for a second...

sounds to me like it was using fuel left in the lines

would pushing the accelartor of pushed the last drops of fuel through ? cause it didnt start till i did that ,...

u tried connectind a 'jumper wire' on where the fuel pump relay should go? u can make one using a piece of wire and 2 spade connectors! careful to get it on the right contacts though (the two fat red wires from memory) then you should hear the pump whirl into action i hope!

Im shit with wiring and that sounds complicated. only reason im doing this my self is cause the guy who was doing it had to leave ... so i was left with it to attempt to finish it off.

right, this may sound v stupid but swap the fuel lines round if they are just push on+jubilee clipped! i made this mistake, its worth a try! i know poeple with xe's and turbo's who have made this silly but v easy mistake!

ah yeh i had problems getting my x16xe to start once id dropped mine in

i tried switching the plugs for the injectors around as i could remember which way they went

eventually i put my finger over this hole where the air intake pipe goes next to the throttle butterfly it sucked ma finger in like it was a vacuum will jus see if i av N E pics

fuel lines are braided and screw on and only go on one way i believe ....

injector plugs are all fine... vacuum hose a pic would be good cause i dunno what your on about , did this help your car to start ...

when you press the accelerator it moves a circular disc which can be seen if you take off all the air intake pipe

when you look at it you will see that it is closed jus infront of this there is a small hole which allows enough air thru for the engine to tick over at idle speed

i put ma finger over this hole as to block it off then i tried starting the car

for some reason this worked for me

i got the car running an revved the engine from under the bonnet then removed ma finger at all was well

top left of pic there is the silver metal bit attached to dibilas

in side that there will be a small hole on the inner bottom
put your finger over it an try start the car

did you wire up the fuel pump as i said? if its not running off the relay, just supply the thick red/blue wire with a constant 12v+ this will make it run permanently (not a problem) then try and start it. if it starts and runs, then you know the pump wiring is at fault.

leave the red/brown from the old 1.2 16v ecu alone. it is used for the old 1.2 16v fuel pump relay.
