do it yourself it's most likely gonna crack i had a bodyshop do mine.... alot of work or so i'm told they have to bond it on, then file/grout out the ridges and fill them with a layer of plastic filler (some special compound which flexes) then they let it dry and add another layer .etc .etc slowly building it up until it's smooth and can be sanded down .etc
if u do it ureself it's likely to crack

its not to hard to do your self if u take ur time, the first thing you will need to do is bond the splitter on very well , then depending on the size of the lip you may need to grind some of that away so its a more gradual step so you wont need to put as much filler in it!
Then add the filler to it so that you are happy with the rough shape and when it is dry just sand it back down so that it is all smooth for you!!

There is just as much chance it cracking of a bodyshop does the work as to if you do the work yourself...
personally i would pop rivit the lip to the bumper grind the rivits down a little and then fibreglass/fill

I beg to differ, work carried out by someone with little to know experience would result as u have shown here (in suggesting fibreglass) in it most likely cracking. fibreglass when put under the various pressures that the front bumper takes will most likely crack as it cannot flex in anyway it's rigid... and the flexi filler that was used on mine took about a week to apply, it was done layer by layer so it could all dry and then be sanded back properly - it wasn't rushed in anyway and no fibreglass was used on smoothing it together at all so therefore it won't crack
