my engine has started making a whiring noise as if its running dry but not all the time only when its on tickover. checked the oil, thats fine, it can't be the water pump already can it i say this coz i recognise the noise from my last one going on my other corsa. the car has only done 52, 000 and its on a W plate, i hate fcuckin strange noises. please help.

it could be the water pump. they can give up no matter what miles are on the clock

can get em from motor factors about 25 quid, need belt off etc yo do it though

its comeing from the left hand side of the engine. near the cambelt

earliest i can get there is thursday. should be ok till then shouldn't it. my mate had it from new nothing wrong i get it and something starts going on it. aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh

Could be the plastic cam belt cover rubbing on the belt - - mine does this and makes a whirring noise on tick over, just ant hear it when you're doing any sort of revs

one day away could be one day to far LOL. it could blow up and die. no worries thanx for the advice, lets hope its nothing to serious.
oh and while i am ere i should be able to one pick up a header tank from a scrappy shouln't i or does anybody reccomend one of them polished ally ones????
