Ive just bought a Sync/Power cable for my Dell Axim X5 PDA (heres the lead - http://www.discountgpsdirect.co.uk/synccharger-cable-p-148.html?osCsid=d12df3302667dc3e2c21165bdec09e67 )
This lead should charge the device from the USB and Sync it up to my PC. It will Sync up fine but it doesnt seem to be charging? Any ideas what it may be?
Ben.

The x50v has a 5.4v charging cable that draws 2amps easily when charging.
It also has a 5v line to charge from usb.
USB ports can only provide 500mA.
These cheap cable don't have seperate 5v and 5.4v lines.
Try having it turned off and it might charge it a bit.
Its the cheap cable though.

is it not possible the pda is just fully charged and does not require charging hence why it isn't?
possibly try plugging it into you usb on the board rather than front panel connectors on usb hub if you have one, possibly that, failing tht try it on another pc to charge if it still dont work send it back

The problem is the one I described.
Other people get crashed computers when the usb port gives up, some are more robust and just don't suply anymore current.
I've been researching x51v's for weeks and came across that more than once.

Good explanation, it doesnt charge at all. Even when switched off and USB'd
So basically, even the cradle thats also powered off the USB wouldnt charge it either. In simple terms - only the power supply can charge the unit up.

No the official cradle charges it.
That is wired properly though to only draw enough current for the trickle charging(it might not actually be trickle charging but you know what i mean i hope).
