just tell them you bought the car like it and didnt know

Dunno, never had that problem. Just give them the old, i didnt realise officer talk. Say when you bought them you were told they were e-marked and didnt think to ask if they were LHD. If they ask where you got them from say Ebay. Then say I will swap them back to standards when I get home. then just leave it at that.

i think what hes saying is the mot is only valid for the car in the state it was on the day, so changing the lights would invalidate it, but you have a certifacate so it doesnt matter

if so, just tell him hes encouraged you
they arent technically illegal anyway, they are emarked so they are useable on uk roads
