I was wondering if anyone can help. I want to completley reomve Norton System Works 2005 and Norton Firewall 2005 from my compurter as they just slow it down too much and cause too many problems. I'm going to use AVG and Zonealarm instead. I've been told just removing them using the add/remove programs in control panel wont completely rid me of the programs does anyone know what else i need to do?

I've done this before with friends computers, its a complete pain, there are some services in Control Panel -> Admin tools -> Services that you need to disable, as well as some stuff in the startup section of the registry.

Nightmare.

Remove the main parts using control panel it will get rid of most that shouldn't interfere with ZA and AVG. I think there is a removal tool on the net somewhere made by somone who was also pissed off with Norton. It really gets everywhere...

Thanks for the info yeah I'd heard it gets everywhere, does anyone know any more about this clean-up tool I want to get rid of as much as possible to get my computers perfomrance back but i dont really want to format the harddrive. I'm gonna have a look using config.sys after i've unistalled it and see what has been left on my startup files etc and get rid of as much as pos of that too
