if it makes a wering noise, does that mean its knacked?

aint been able to test it yet since the battery is dead.

take it off and clean it, see it that cures the problem?

just a little wd40 and dryed it with a towel.

use carb cleaner. wd40 is an oil and will encourage it to gunk up again. also check the connection to the icv if it isnt working properly, make sure there is enough slack on the loom wires as you have fitted a new inlet they could be tight.

did you wind the icv back in before re-fitting it?

thanks peeps, sorted now, i think it was wering or buzzing as the battery was flat, recharged the battery and the noise is no longer ther now, first time i started it it did it for like 2 secs then stopped and now runs fine.
