I know corsas are prone to crack on the b pillars. How seerious is this? Does it cause major loss of strength? How far do the cracks normally go? Is there any satisfactory way of repairing it?

Im considering fitting a rollover hoop and gusseting it to the shell, this should stop the crack moving, can I weld it up and paint it, or not?

Any info appreciated. Al.

they have to be welded up, most drill a hole either end of the crack to stop it spreading further then weld them up

its not dangerous i cut the roof of a corsa with b pillar cracks and the b pillar is 3 skins thick

so just grind it back a bit and weld it grind it smooth and re-paint

i personly think its down to pepole slamming the fucking door

its not due to people slamming the door, its due to the car flexing rond the b pillers! drill a hole at the end oft he crack and then weld it all up

right, so just grind it clean and weld it up and paint it.

Should be able to geta decent colour match on a flat colour, and Im fitting a rollover hoop anyway, so it shouldnt crack again.

Cheers.

beginning of, just the main hoop for now, behind the seats, gusseted to the pillars. Also going to do a strutbrace in the boot. Next stage is to add the rear bars and diag, but thats in the future.

I wouldn't fit a cage just to stop the pillars cracking, thats a bit much effort for something which is largely cosmetic.

A good repair should last 5 years.

I want the cage anyway, but as a side effect it will eliminate the problem!

I presume they all suffer with this, no changes in later year etc?
