hi i was looking for advice i am think of putting biffer brakes on my 1.4 16v sport any any ideas of the best brakes to get.How hard would it be 2 change is it worth the bother?

half an hour work 2 go 2 the scrappy take off sum calibra discs, calipers and pads.

straight swap, just get 2.0 16V calipers from scrapyard (Astra, cavalier or calibra)and purchase some vauxhall GM discs and pads, bolt off and bolt on - job done.

ok mate cool nothing needing adjusted once they are on just leave the back ones as they are?

V6 Brakes look sweet. You get a bit more pedal travel though.




Can get these quite often in classifieds. Or new from LMF.

i wanna do this aswell, what size brakes and pads do i need to fit astra callipers tho??

Nope, just get your brakes bled and your away.

Some people have stated to also get braided brake lines aswell - it helps the pedal feel as they bite a bit later on corsa's.

Go to vauxhall and ask for:

2.0 16V 24x256 GM Disc Brakes & GM 2.0 16V pads to fit an Astra/Cavalier/Calibra caliper

£71 for GM discs and pads i asked the other day Calipers are £160 each - vat

Theres some re-con ATE calipers on E-Bay. Don't know if this is good value or not.

Get the calipers from someone braking a car or scrappy, pick them up for £30 easily. I got my pads and disks for £52 from vauxhall because my brothers a member on mig

How deep is your pocket mate? As i brought a set up inc braided hoses aswell, for £355, black diamond disc,s vectra v6 ebc pads

I have some GM 2ltr discs only just bedded in less than 100 miles.

I wouldn't bother go brand new, i got a whole set up for £55 - just wait around on C.S or post up a wanted ad.. I cleaned and sprayed mine up and they look a treat
