a mate of mine just brought a mondeo with this engine in it think its a st or sumout he doing mine and my mates heads in by saying corsas are crap so i was wondering what would be the best route to go with my corsa in order to well er... beat him? at the mo its a 1.0  so would i be best converting it to a 1.6 and tuneing it or just put an 2.0 xe in it?

errrm - go and buy a ST24 - it'll be cheaper in the long run
( oh and were you taught spelling, punctuation and grammar at school?)

yep i know my 1.0 wont even come close just wondering what would be the best route to more power thast all. and my spelling, punctuation and grammar is crap i know thanks for reminding me.

that is a lot stupid. A 1.0 car has no abilility to be faster than a 2.5 even if MOdeo has a larger weight, it depend on your money but i would want to buy a bmw 328, if u have to go to older car, then it does matter nothing, faster and more "street cred"

Guys, Whats hapening to this place.
Its an advice forum. He wants to convert his corsa to beat the mondeo.
Simple question!
Mate, XE in a corsa is common place now. You can pick up an engine for around £250-£300 quid. You'll need to change your inner cv's, get a different drivers engine mount, modify your exhaust to fit the new downpipe from the xe.
Then wire it up

cheers mate glad someone understands the question, it not only to beat my mate that just the final reason on my list, main reason is cos my 1.0 cant pull the skin from a rice pudding! thanks again mate. how much bhp would i be looking at for xe conversion?

The C20Xe engine is 150bhp standard.
Play with it a bit, you got a flyer!

My xe corsa would kill a 2.5v6 mondeo
and it has done

160-170 ish , more soon  supposed to have had headwork, modded tb, chipped ecu. i took a gamble, paid 200 quid for it and threw it in the car, so i'm not sure whats inside there

but what I mean to tell is that even if the corsa is faster, it will still not look as pretty as the mondeo, or even if you have money a bmw. we should not spend weeks on a 1.0 corsa when even a basic bmw will always look better
i think that we should have a poll on these topics

ok bmws all look the same same lights grill wotever you can walk past 300 in a car park and they all blend in like a ford escort where as a modified corsa will instantly stand out. bmws are nice but only in m3 or m5 format othere than that they are boring. plus if i have a 1.0 badge on my car but have my xe inside then when i overtake that bmw ill have a big smile on my face and thay will have a very red face so spending weeks modifing a car pays off. if you want to drive a bmw and look like a twat (m3 m5 z3 z4 excluded) then buy one but if you want to put love into a car and get the rewards then mod your car in my case a corsa
