I've played with a few CTR's and i managed to keep up with them no fuss at all.
106's are easy pickings imo.

XE will have it's buttock's whoopah'd
A standard 2.2 vti/vtec prelude is quick enough, never mind putting it into a smaller car.

what are xe'd corsa's like against a civic type r?? i don't mean around the twisties, just a traffic light gp!!
and going on the logic that 106 gti's are a tiny amount behind an xe'd corsa, therefore they should be able to keep up with a ctr??
and lets throw an xe'd nova into the mix ............
what does a standard 106gti weigh in at?
900kgs? so if its 130bhp (generous figure!!) then its got approx 144bhp per tonne...
now im guessing this weight totally... but if a CTR weighs 1200kgs, and has 197bhp, that still gives it 164bhp per tonne.... 20 more than the pug
heres hoping some simple maths will put an end to this age old arguement!!
oh, and if you must know... my money is on the XE nova every time

I think too many people forget that most 106 gti's have at least some mods.
Standard they're not spectacular. With a few mods, they're pretty nippy.
However, if you apply the mods to the other cars then

I raced a CTR while in reverse on my moped and beat it - only just though.
Mind you, the CTR driver probably couldnt drive.
