I had 2 wheels buckled on my GSI, Council had stripped the road surface and where there was a change between old surface and the stripped part there was a step about 3 inches high, 5 months later i got a cheque for £450 through the post

My guess is that there is a farm on the right and that hole in the road has been caused by tractors turning in.
I bet thats the councils take on it anyways

Thought so...tractor tyre marks on the verge gave it away
I'd still try claiming from the council though, worth a go my guess is the council will try to counter claim against the farm which may make the process somewhat 'lengthy'

surely they cant claim against the farm.
Tractors drive on the roads aswell. It is e councils responsibilty for the upkeep of the road whether at a farm roadend
or a random corner
i no the roads around mine are absolutly terribile

What you do is, get someone to phone up about the hole, put in a complaint.
Take some pics after whoever has phoned up, if its not filled, you have a case!?

Never had a wheel that bad Steve. I've saved plenty of wheels with a small flat spot like that

Doubt it, tractor have tyres on them. Will have been caused by heavy rain. There are 2 up the road from our farm, every time it rains a pot hole appears, council fills it in then it rains again. They never think about un-blocking the drains do they

You can't do that to aluminium, they will have been heat treated.

water quite easily washes a road away, drain collapses, starts leaking and then washes a load of the under soil away which can take the upper road surface with it.

yip, especialy on B-Roads where there is a grass verge at the side of the road, water gradually creaps under your tarmac, washes away the type 1 sub base leaving nothing supporting the layer you drive on, so collapses
