Whats the rules on this, does it have to be towed?
i have insurance for the car, does it have to be taxed too?
if not how do i do it?

Doesnt need 2 b taxed or moted so long as ure driving to and from a test station.
you do however ned 2 have insurance

you need to be taxed iirc if, not, it shouldnt be towed either, will have to be on a trailer
the car should NOT be on the road if not taxed

if the car is not taxed you can drive it to an MOT station. It must have insurane.
If it is SORN then it moust not be on the road what so ever.

how far is your MOT station? also if you give them a call they should be able to tell you,

You ARE allowed to drive to and from an MOT station without tax or MOT as long as you are insured it is all legal.
Can you really see people trailering there summer cars which they use once a year to the MOT station then trailering them back for a re test FFS people get a grip!

If its SORN you can drive it to a MOT station, this needs to be checked.

Of course you can the DVLA realise that not all cars that are declared SORN are going to be off the road forever.
Can u imagine how much it would cost if you had to trailer it there and back.
It is perfectly legal to drive a car with no tax that is SORN am 100% certain
