Just got my broadband upgraded to 4meg (from 2meg). Some of you may know that I'm currently using a wireless router to connect to the net from my laptop.
When I'm downstairs (wireless), downloads are nowhere near what they should be, I'm getting 230-260kb/s.
When I go upstairs and plug in the ethernet cable, I'm getting 600-630kb/s.
Am I right in thinking that my wireless router can't handle the download speeds? Are there any routers out there that can?
Cheers
Dave

I notice differences depending how close I am to the router.

Check to see if your router has a firmware upgrade. Most should have the option in the admin login.

is this the same download your doing tho?
your download speed is massively affected by where your downloading from.
IF your talking about torrents, i wouldnt take that at face value.
Also, your broadband will take a couple of days to settle down.
i wouldnt go upgrading your firmware just yet if i was you.
Plus, i would only tend to upgrade firmware if it was the last option, as it can be risky.

it's not torrents. Have been downloading stuff from the microsoft website and doing speed tests from numerous sources.
Like I said, it works fine when the ethernet cable is plugged in, it's only slow over wireless
