a guy my dad knows has seized up his 1.4 16v astra (2000 y reg)
he has been quoted 2500 for a recon engine fitted.
he wants me 2 price up a 2nd hand engine fitted.
im guessing a 2nd hand engine will b around 150?
what would you expect to pay if u was having one fitted.
a mate told me 500 for engine and fitting it. dunno what the jobs worth

2500 price from Vaux Garage?? 
I had a 1.6 16v corsa engine sourced with 7k miles on it, fitted with a new clutch & all belts by a reptuable garage (not some plank up their drive!!) for £1500 that was 4 years ago!!

A 1.4 Ecotec engine costs what, 250 quid max, then a few hours labour, I wouldn't even say 1k

so what would ya charge if u was fitting one? i reckon 500 all in is a fair price (incl.; engine, oil water and fitting) anythi9ng extra at 10 an hr plus parts?

I had a 1.6 16v with full service history, 33k, included gearbox, clutch, new driveshafts and a brandnew Viper chucked in for £1100, all done by a very good garage about 3 years ago.

Depends what milage is on the engine & whos fitting it tbh!!
I would always fit a new timing belt & clutch while the engines out though!!
