Thats what I thought, as I've just got my log book through and had been told that the car might be a CAT D when I bought it. Not too worried as it was cheap anyway.

Where's the cheapest place to get an HPi check done?

Yeah just get a HPI check.

Cat D is fine anyway, minimal damage.

In all honesty, does it matter if it has been a write off?

Its saved you money, and if its a cat D, and doesnt need a VIC check, then it cant be bad in the first place.

And if its cat C, and it passes the VIC check, its obviously been fixed and safe enough to be on the road again.

I doubt i'd buy a write off.
You save money but this is negated when you come to sell.
Definitely woudln't buy a cat C.
Cars that are crashed bad enough to be a write off for more than cosmetic damage never drive the same again.

Its only a Seat Ibiza 02 plate and it cost £1500, little dent in the roof and apart from that its fine. Bottom book price is £3k for it, so I'm happy.
Its just something to drive and not really worry about.
