i currently run an OC'd Athlon 2200XP. its running at 1900mhz, but have seen a Barton core Athlon 3200+ with the 200mhz FSB for $150. my motherboard is compatible with this chip and speed, is it worth it? about £60

I personally wouldn't waste money upgrading anything atm.
Wait until vista comes out and that money can go towards a new dx10 system.

New hard drives with flash memory and further dual core pricedrops by january.
If you have no intention of upgrading until after that it will probably be a good buy though.

Ahh for that as well.
If you were due an upgrade anytime close to vista coming out i'd build for that still.
Only agp on the board aswell will limit the options.
Totally depends on whether you are willing to wait a few months then build a new system or not though.

I'm at about 2300 I think perfectly stable.
Didn't want to up the voltage any higher and thats fsb and not multiplier.
Rock solid, ran prime for over 24 hours.
I couldn't tell you what anything in my computer is set at these days though because it was over a year ago I done it now and I can't be annoyed anymore just to open IE and messnger.

indeed true, but CM is not looking for a full system upgrade by the sounds of it.
£60 will not buy him a new flashhard drive, dx10 graphics card, mobo, chip and memory.
for £60 that aint bad.

But he is wanting to play fsx in the near future so to get the best out of it he will have to upgrade all of them anyway.
So 60 quid towards that imminent upgrade is better than nothing.
