thats right may be visiting a GSi tonight to see if i want it..... it has a tow bar 83k on the clock

so whats to check put it in third bring it to biting point check for rattles?

anything else rust points etc

rusty underneath, rusty suspension arms.

Leaking petrol tank, clean idle and no hestitation through the revs

dont think ill drive it as im not insured to do so and im sensible

its a first look if i like it ill go back with my old man get him to have a look before i agree to anything

My mums had a tow bar, Smoke Grey M reg.

Rust points are under the leading edge of the bonnet, front wings where the arch meets them, pillars, bottom of the spoiler and underneath the spoiler.

what have they been towing? check for whining/dying gear box.

my gsi had a towbar, the lad before me towed a trailor for his crosser

but as Ian said, rust around the spoiler, rear window wiper, under the front of the bonnet, and cracks in the b pillar

check smoke form the exhaust for burning oil, rust, any tapping noises. And the abs system is known for being poo.

if there is a twin axle caravan on the drive, walk away

make sure you ask what they were towing of course

also check the edge at the top of the front window for rust
