Last night my brother was pulled over for a routine check. He was given a producer which he took into the police station today.
There were 2 problems. The first being the MOT expired on the 26/09/2006, he had a test done this morning and it passed but will this be ok?. The car is a 2003 Corsa C so if flew through the MOT.
Secondly, on the insurance certificate his name is down as R.P. Thomas but his middle initial is ‘M’ so the guy in the station wouldn’t accept it and read him his rights.
He is going to ring the insurance company and ask for an amended certificate but can anyone advise further on the situation?

here in holland the insurance company's have a MOT section in the agreement.. stating that a car without MOT is NOT INSURED
I dont know how it is in your contry but if the cops here in holland really want to take a piss on you they take you to court for uninsured driving..
however.. i talked my way out yesterday with a 3 months overdue mot..
when he asked for the papers i started staring verry surprised at the expiration date en looked shocked while handing over..
he fell for it

You will only get shafted if you genuinely made a mistake and didn't know you didn't have an mot.
If you knew and drove about like that anyway you'll get off with at the most a small fine.
That's the way it works in this country.

that would have been firdt MOT right, I would jaust say you got confused about the data the car was rigistered thought it was30/09/06 and you had mot booked for 02/10/06 (first day after weekend) will prob still get done but should get of lightley, as for the Insurance just get it sorted and should be ok.

Only an offence not to have insurance in respect of third party riskd. His insurance would probably cover the third party but refuse to pay out to fix his car. So legally hes fine (Insurance wise, not for MOT)
