'On log book as 1998cc but insurance companies recognise it as still being 1.0 12v!'

is this allowed?? would his insurance be void?

not exactly...

its also a way of mentioning that the insurance companies details are incorrect when compared to the DVLA, hence its worth to check to make sure the engine is right with them...

no

my omega was down with the insurance as a GLS TD (Turbo Diesel) with the 2.5td engine, but on the logbook it was a 2.5 V6 Petrol GLS...

They actually tried telling me that I was trying to swindle the insurance by lying to them (even tho the petrol is more to insure than the diesel) and I had to fax the logbook to them to prove otherwise...

its gay when details dont match, can cause issues, but as long as the log book is right, and the insurance company are made aware (they may try saying because there details are wrong you cant get insured, but its there responsibility to ensure the details they have are correct so there is no reason you cant be insured in all fairness)

I disagree. At the end of the day you going to know very cearly if you've got a 2.0 Turbo instead of a 1.0 12v under your bonnet, so even if the insurance company dont have the updated records for your car, its still your right to tell them. If you dont then in all fairness they can and probabaly will void your insurance in an accident.
