... It does this ONLY if I download torrents, either with uTorrent or Azureus... Why?

I'm guessing it's down to either memory or Java issues?

Does not do this with any other application I use, even if I have loads of programs like Dreamweaver, Photoshop, IE, etc. open at the same time!

Turn down the number of allowed connections in either program.

I had a torrent client that used to crash all the time because of this.

So you reckon it's that?

I'm using Win2K Pro if that affects anything.

It's weird it either freezes all of Windows or the whole PC just reboots itself!

How many connections should I allow?

Not 100% sure but its something to try.

Half whatever they are for a start, just see how it goes.

uTorrent doesn't use java like Azureus so i'm not sure what the connection between just they 2 is, utorrent shouldn't use much memory.

Have you tried other torrent clients?

OK will give it a go.

Nah just uTorrent and Azureus. Just seems really weird.

The reboot could be because of the Recovery tab on whatever service is failing.

Go Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services, find Remote Procedure Call, right click Properties and look at the tab, they'll normally be 'Restart the Computer'.

You could change that, if you get an error instead of a straight reboot, its that service. If the reboots persist, its something else. That would be my first guess though.

I used to get this when using DC++ back in the day
It was something to do with the ram and the fact that DC++ was on my C drive but the downloads were saved to me D drive
I uninstalled DC++ and re-installed it on D and it was fine after that.

I used to get this when i had a dodgy motherboard. Also had a hp system doing this when the PSU was on its way out.

I haven't rebooted my laptop in about a month. Picked it up of the sofa this evening to use and it was still on Been using it for the past 12 hours and fine Think i'll switch it off when i go to bed lol.
