i currently work on support for a software developer.
They have offered me the chance to being an ASP.net developer (Cold Fusion furthur down the line). They will pay for all the training with the long term goal of me becomming a full time developer
I have a basic knowledge of ASP, HTML and also SQL
just wondered if anyone on here could answer a few queries
How long will it take if i put the hours in out of work to fully understand ASP.Net and be able to write complicated programs (i know that ones a bit like asking 'how long a piece of string, but rough estimates would be good)
Whats the pay like once intially 'qualifed'?
I should also have an MSCA in the next few months, will this help in the ASP.net development?
Is it a good career choice?

The initial pay for a junior .Net developer would be around £23k, maybe less, maybe more.
IMO the best way to learn .Net is to use it. Learning ASP.Net on its own is useless anyway because you need to learn a back end coding language, either VB.Net or C#.Net.
I didnt go on any courses, I simply worked with the technology for a year and now IMO I am fairly confident with the technology.
I've worked .Net for a year and I personally think its fantastic, ASP.Net is a piece of piss. You may find picking up C# or VB complicated though

i prefer to learn in more of a hand on way so this is perfect.
23k is alot more than i thought, what the wages like afterwards? 2-5 years experience?
Thanks
