rather than make it faster... make it brake and handle!
For hot hatch days at Knockhill the car has to pass basic scrutineering. Things like brake lights, check everthign is sercure etc.
Crail - no rules at all.

nope, nope, nope
You can hire helmets for about 5 quid on the day.
Tips - start cheap and small to get the hang of it. The car will get battle scarred and stone chipped . A 2.0 nova will be plenty quick enough to begin with. Improving its handling and brakes will be the best start.
Strip as much weight out as you can. It will be better on track, not to mention easier on brake/suspension etc.
Dot 5.1 Fluid. Mintex 1155's (or such) are a good start too.

another thing. Try to get along to 'club' days.... like the recent ADMC one.
I much prefer them to the loony bin Hot Hatch brigade! Dont get me wrong, it a hoot... but you cant afford to give a shit about your car if you go out
SIDC, Dreadnaught etc are good days/evenings. Passign only on straights, like minded drivers etc.

haha
I'm running medium compound yoko 048r's on the corsa. very good, but about 115 a pop for 195/50/15's!
If youre semi serious about it keep a set of road tyres or wet tyres on a set of rims, and look out for some slicks for another set.
The 6 slicks i have for the skyline are ex touring car test tyres... bugger all wear
I'll prob be selling my wheels/brakes/tyres once i get home (if the corsa isnt a cheap/easy fix)
lightweight prorace alloys, yoko, 4pot HiSpec calipers, 300mm discs, mintex 1155's and spare greenstuff pads
