is it normal for a x14xe to not be able to go past 100mph
(not that i drive that fast all the time)

my x14xe barely touches over 100mph on flat and its supposedly running 111bhp.

Mantzel replica
full powerflow exhaust
carbon induction kit

hits 100 just before limiter in 4th then 5th might aswell not even be their as it wont budge one bit over 100, tryed several time whilst iv been out driving over the last 7 months and itrefuses to top 100mph.

is their a problem sumwhere or is that totally normal, even my old 1.1 pug had a better top speed.

Should do more than 100mph...Under lying problem some where..

Even with 17" wheels should still top more than 100.

even my mates 1.2 16v does over 100 with 17" wheels

other mates do 110 with a 1.2 16v on 16's

mine used to do 112 on the flat as a standard x14xe

is it sluggish in other gears?

Electronically limited?

A 1.4 should easily do over 100mph on the flat.

my 14 16v hit over 120 with 16s on,
there seems to be seomthing wrong there.
any strange noises?
or does it feel slow through certain revs etc?
are u taking it up through the gears first as opposed to building up speed in 5th from 50mph?

these engines were designed to be driven hard, there is nothing wrong with thrashing a engine, all you've got to do is have regular services and check over often, o and make sure it had a recent cambelt change!

im no talking about relining it from cold etc, i look after my engine, and soon will be reving it to about 7200/7500rpm once mapped,

o and its not screaming, its singing

the wheels are just 16" speedlines, and yes, taken up through all gears it wont hardly touch over 100, and thats after hitting 100 just before the limiter in 4th, 5th just seems useless.

doesnt driving engines hard, like, really lower their 'life expectancy' though? surely you are likely to have higher repair bills from things breaking under the bonnet than if u drive it to max 3k in every gear with the od overtake??? or am i wasting the other 3k revs in my sri?
