Went into my local Pharmacy to get some eye drops as i woke up with conjuctivitis in my left eye.

I hadnt really a clue what i was looking for and hoped the pharmacist would just get something off the shelf for me.

Got there and the receptionist took me straight through to an onsite doctor/pharmacist. He gave it a check over just like a doc would and actually prescribed me something there and then. No waiting around in a surgery, having to wait for an appointment or anything

apparently there is a new initiative where pharmacists help surgerys now by doing a prescription for them for minor things.

I highly recommend going to see the pharmacist first if its something minor rather than trying to fight to get into your local surgery

Yes. The NHS doesnt employ a pharmasist unless it is in a hostpital and that is a different kettle of fish altogether.

All the paperwork for a minor ailments service I guess he means. It's only some places that have it as well - not everywhere. It's meant to stop retard pikies taking their kids to GPs to get a free prescription for Calpol etc. In most areas, you have to be eligible for free prescriptions to get the stuff free, etc.

Community pharmacists work under contract to the NHS (through the local PCT). In hospital, we are employed directly by the NHS (and consequently get paid fuck all).
