well the rent and stuff will be split between four of us, so money isn't really a problem to be honest.

ive been in flat and house and prefer the house situ, its nice to have your own garden and personal outdoor space rather than having to share it, might not be a critical point to some people but it is to me.

House if you can afford it.
I have problems with the people downstairs and loud music in my flat but I guess unless you get a detached house, you will always get that.

Whats the difference in price?
TBH you could get away with a spacious 2/3 bed flat, but then the money you pay for that would probably be the same as a house, and with a house you get 2 floors, generally more space, parking?, and a garden
House seems logical, 4 of u @ £150 a month = £600. £600 I imagine would get u a 2/3 bed house!

£600 where I live might get you a garden shed or a garage if you are lucky.
The beach huts on Bournemouth seafront cost more than houses up north

Main disadvantage with a flat is access. All your shopping needs carrying that extra distance. Mine is top floor so its particularly noticable, but big shops can be 5-6 journeys up and down four floors. I buy extra Coke just for coming home.
