for a wired network its pretty much just a case of plugging them in
fo wireless you just connect the wireless connection to the router
can get pics if you want

as long as the router has 4 network ports, plug them all in, if dhcp is running on the router do nothing and it should work.

if it doesn't have dhcp put the pc's on the same range e.g if the router is 192.168.1.1

put the pc's on addresses 192.168.1.2 to .5
subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and default gateway of 192.168.1.1

Wired, plug the computers into the router and if DHCP is enabled on the router then it'll pretty much be plug 'n' play

Im sure you'll have some problems but with a wired network it's a lot lot easier to solve than a wireless, which WILL cause headaches

connecting to the internet is no problem as that uses a different port. To change ip addresses Go to control panel > network connections > Local area Connection (LAN) > Right click the properties of the network card > Scroll down to internet protcol (TCI / IP) > Select properties and from there you can manually enter an ip although as above if you have DHCP on the router (my netgear does) then choose automatically assign ip then you should b away just a matter of creating file-shares and making sure you are all on the same workgroup

If the pc are connecting to the internet theres no need to change the ip's as the router has assigned the ip automatically (dhcp)

unless you going to plug stuff in and out of the network, then i would assign static ip address, ie: pc1 = 192.168.0.2, pc2 = 192.168.0.3, pc3 = 192.168.0.4 etc Gateway/router = 192.168.0.1. As it helps if you need to port forward anything
