Been offered a possible promotion today at work to become a full time sales rep. Only problem is my patch would be on the other side of the country. Im based in Wrexham, North Wales and ive been offered the east coast, say from dartford crossing to northumberland, in between the coast and the m1.
Pay will go up slighyly but ive been promised good comission if i can crack it.
My only worry is staying away most of the week being on my own away from my famil, friends and home enviroment and dont know what id do and how i would cope. especially being away in the summer.
Just wondered if theres any of you lot out there and how you get on.

personally, unless it was a much better wage I wouldnt do it. I could handle being away from everyone if the money was good, but if not then I wouldnt bother.
Depends what value you put on what you do during the week (how often your with friends and family) and if the extra money is greater than that or not.

depends what you do, whether you like it, how much they are offering more, benefits etc? company car?
would they pay living costs, or hotels or rent somewhere for you? there's alot of questions i would be asking them personally.....

agreed with what cosmo is saying. Especially if you're only getting paid marginally more.
Saying that though, the older generation always say take every oportunity you get and it usually leads onto better things.
Is there the possiblity that you can drop back to your old position if you're not happy with it?

yeh there is allways the possibility of dropping back in to my current position.
well at the moment im earning approx 12-13k basic, and with all commisions presently i earn arround 17k p.a
ive been told i will earn a bit more than that if i take the position getting 3 or 4% of that commsion.
get a company car, expenses, hotel, meals and 1 alcohilic beverage on the company.
well in the winter i dont do much but come spring summer when the nights draw out and temps rise il be fiddling with sed corsa, playing footy or in beer garden.
i wouldnt mind being out now as id be on a lap top at night on footy manager but in the summer i'd want to be out with mates

I spend about 2/3 nights out a week, as i am a cisco systems engineer. At first i hated being away, but now i love it, have your hotel paid for, meals, drinks, everything. Also you have abit of peace.
I do miss my mrs the most, but its extra special when we get to see each other.
I wud say only do it for a good sum of money and you dont mind going away all week. Wouldnt do it for a few grand more. But i notice when you are away from home, you dont spend any money
Dont know if you have a serious g/f? but if you dont, it wont be as hard as if you did.

I use to do it in my old job but i was always with atleast one other person so it wasnt too bad.
The company would allow us £20 each on the company card each night for food and a few beers which was pretty good aswell as a paid hotel with breakfast.
I wouldnt want to do it by myself though unless the money was alot better and a good chance of promotion/more money in the future.

I work away qquitre a bit but its not every week
Depending who you are with it can be a good laugh and most is put on expenses so get pissed and eat lovely food for free
If your on your own though it can become tiresome
Give a go it can do no harm

TBH i wouldn't do it for that money. the novelty of free space and meals paid for would soon become boredom and lonely

i wouldnt consider for the money your speaking.
Sounds like your company are willing to gamble on you possibly being a sucess, but not paying you the right money for your efforts.
Ive been in your position, and the basic spoken of was over twice your basic now with a very good commission scheme on top.
