Have got a perfect bk 299 (decent looking alloy) and a mate who is a tool setter in a metal fabbing place.
He's going to make me a tubular stand for now to see how it looks (bolted to the original holes sort of a floating stand). I'm gonna just get a piece of toughened glass made to sit flush on top (with some sort of rubber spacer obviously) do you reckon it'll look ok as a little table next to my sofa

Nelly has these on cribs, but had 3 alloys stacked ontop of each other then a 4th the right way up and then glass screwed down into it. Looked
I wouldnt go with a tyre if I were you. And if you dont think it looks any good put it on the bay and you'll probably make a packet!

I agree it's not gonna be having a tyre but I may get something done to the outside of the wheels where the tyre would go.
The legs on those (linked by james) all look poo, mine is gonna be sitting on a polished stand etc. I liuke the way they've mounted the glass though.
Will let you know how I get on and might lash it on ebay, quit my job etc

Seen those type of seats before on tv I think, looks a bit 50's (the shape of the bars) and nicely photographed
