Currently looking for an XE corsa with or without engine mods.

Can people please advise me which route is best to get more perfomance out of the XE without going down the LET route

I was thinking about cams and a remap (after the usual exhaust etc....)

What else as well as or other than cams etc is thier ???

Can people advice about do and donts and if possible costs and places to recommend

Thanks in advance

The redtops respond quite well to head work. But if you are looking for proper power then throttle bodies are a must on the xe

cheapest way to tune ur c20xe is to run yamaha R1 carbs. the whole setup can be had for a little over £500

The rev counter wouldnt work doing it that way would it?

I might be wrong in saying but i've heard that carbs need setting up every once in a while to ensure they are fueling correct. is this true?

No suggestions on cams so far ?

If you want to keep it running right then carbs and throttle bodies do need setup every few thousand miles.

the rev counter will still work, just need a wire running from the coil.

you'll get more power from these on their on than you would from cams on their own, but if you do both then you could have it running 190-200 bhp

you need the carbs them selves, a manifold from bogg brothers, can get them jetted and setup by them too, you dont have to have a matched cu to run these but it is adviseable, will also need custom servo hose and breather pipes probably aswell, not sure on last 2 though, these might be solved with the bogg bro's manifold,

Im sort of guessing at the moment that bhp/£ carbs are the way to go.

Still would like some info on cams etc as well though

id say bike carbs are sort of in between carbs and throttle bodies for the power, but probably the cheapest nowadays as theres loads about on ebay and arent that expensive, its the manifold thats the most probably.

am usually out with jono or lidge n that.

if i was having cams id have headwork to match them mate, and as you said a remap aswell, tried tested and proven way to power are cams, can dramatically change the driveability of a car aswell, high end power, mid range/ lowrange etc, thats why a remap is good i suppose so the power can be in the right place.

would go down the route of getting a decent exhaust system inc manifold, headwork cams and a remap before i considered carbs IMO

Well im going to look at an XE tomorrow thats had head work done already thats why i was thinking cams etc. I've heard good things about courtenays high lift cams so id go for something like that.

Where local who knows what they are doing can do a decent remap? Collins, Mikanics?

Manifold can be made at work as long as i've got a template for it, so other than the carbs themselves and the setup it would be cheap(ish)

When you next up fez bieran?
