i filled up my coolent today from empty, run it till all pipes are hot, the pass side, lower main pipe took ages, but now gets hot,

the fans blow hot cold and when revved i get coolent returning back throu both of the top pipe on the coolent tank,

now the temp gauge wrapped round right into the red before the slow speed kicked in on the fan

so is it a air lock at the bottom of the rad>? stopping the temp/fan switch kicking in, or is it the fan switche's that are buggered?

any help or other ideas of the prob would be much appreciated,

its a 99 sport 1600 with air con

did you get rid of all the air in the system?

try getting it right up to temp about 98 degrees, open expansion tank and put blowers on hot. wait till the coolant bubbles over and stop the engine. let it cool, you will hear the air coming out of the system.

usually around 100 before it cuts in. if it still doesnt cut in check your fan switch wiring is good then chech the fan switch is going open circuit with a multimeter

right did what you said,

the pass side bottom hose isnt getting as hot and the water,

there is constant flow of coolent going into the tank on the left return pipe "as you look at it from the front.

i dont think the rad is getting any circulation. not without squeezeing the hoses,

its a brand new thermostat aswell

just had the new thermostat off and the old one in a pan of water, boiled the water slowly and they both opened at same time

so the thermostat is good.

damm. so why is the temp reading over 100, the expansion tank showing steam, but the rad and both main rad hoses not getting hot?

yeah there is the blue connector that fits to the sender unit itself then just below and back a bit is an earthing point where the other wire with a spade connector fits to.
