Well my mum has a Bmw 1 Series, ill post a pic of it at the bottom, its a 116i and its just over 2 years old. Anyway we pulled out of a junction and it was really jerky, wasnt pulling and there was hardly any power. Stopped the car and it was idling erratically. I had a look and tried to find what was causing the fault.

So we tried just to drive it up to the bmw garage as it was only 5 mins away, drove about 1000 yards and there was becoming less and less power and more and more jerky. So we stopped again and i checked the onboard computer for faults, Nothing showed. I suspected it was a crank sensor but wasnt sure. So i called BMW Emergency Services and they sent someone out, guy had a look and guessed the same as me. He said he was gona just tow it to the garage. So attacked the tow hook and set up the bar etc. Then he told me he was going to reverse back and told me to put the tow bar on,

He got in an started rolling back, when it got close enough i shouted stop and hit the window. He didnt hear me as the car kept rolling and the result was a nice big dent in the bottom of the tailgate of his Bmw 5 Series Estate. When he saw it he was raging, saying "im gona have to pay for this myself!" which obviouisly isnt true.

When we got the car to the garage though they reckon its either the crank sensor or the timing chain has jumpted a tooth. Not good for a newish motor.

Heres a pic of the car:

just sold a bodykit for one of those and they are nice cars to drive and there is a fast one of them.
Handling is gd but imo the ride is a bit to harsh for the clients they are aiming the car at!

The closest they do to an M version is the 130i M Sport - no M1 but my guess is it'd have the 3.2 straight 6 out of the E46 M3.

Mark - your mums is really tasty looking for a 116i, what kit is that on it? My dads business partner has a 116i SE and it's vile.

its got the full m-tech body kit, it isnt cheap, about the same price as irmscher stuff. I had to replace the front bumper and it cost me £362 plus painting and fitting.
