I went with my brother in law, we were visiting family in Essex and Plymouth were the first team I ever went to see ( V coventry in the FA Cup 3rd round, must have been 95ish) Coventry won 3-1.

I'm a traditionalist, I prefer stadia with 4 proper stands. I do like stadiums like OT and The Emirates, but the likes of The Walkers and St Marys are fucking dull!

i think these kind of stadiums have more charactor. imo of course. no doubt that emirates looks awesome, and old trafford looks good and can be a culdron of noise....but look at anfield, has a lot of charactor and history.

The Atmosphere at St James has suffered massively from it's expansion, alot of the noise seems to escape ground now that the stands are at differing heights

Stadium at Istanbul was roofless in half of it, and that was the loudest atmosphere I have ever been to, ever. More than probably the loudest game at Anfield for a long time (Liv vs Chelsea in CL semi)

I think people say it makes atmosphere worse just as an excuse IMO.
