My 97 1.2 corsa has been sat on the drive for about 5 months now without moving. before that i stupidly drilled the airbox and it got louder and louder. While it's been sat on the drive i decided to ducktape the holes i drilled to try and silence the sound. Over the time it's been sat on my drive my battery has been recharged several times. Today i bought a new battery and fitted it earlier. when i started my car the engine produced a lot of smoke. i checked where it was coming from and it was from the air feed between the engine and the airbox. any ideas what the problem is and what i can do to try and stop it???

After opening the airbox it doesn't look like there is anything blocking it. when i start the engine without the airbox there is no smoke so i am guessing the smoke has something to do with the airbox. I did buy another airbox which i was going to fit because of the drilled holes problem. this airbox does not have the thing on the side of it which attaches to an orange wire leading to the dash. I don't know what the wire is for but if anyone does, is it important and do i need it?? if not then i can just attach my new airbox and fingers crossed evrythin should be reet...
