I am thinking of getting a private number plate, but it needs spacing to look how i want it, i.e:

Should be:

ABC 123

Want it like:

ABC12 3

The number plate isnt abc 123 btw

How many of you with spacing have been pulled over by police? I know its illegal, but are the police really bothered about it?

Just asking as i dont want to spend x amount of money to keep getting pulled over etc.

I see these top sports cars etc with spacing all the time.

Cheers.

I'm sure someone posted a few months ago, that no plate has ever been sold like that.

You could drive round for years and be fine. Or have them fitted and get a fine or telling off within a week.

I got pulled twice for this and just got told to change it and had a producer.

Its up to you. You'll probably find its only bored traffic cops that'll pull you for it though.

if you dont have it in some stupid font or bend the letters or have the small dots that look like there screw covers to make it look different you could be alright but tbh its a difficult one, i havent had a plate on the front of my corsa in ages and never been pulled once!

i got pulled loads when i had mine for various plate styles.
My plate is M11 RCR but had it spaced M11RC R with dots between the two 1's to make them look like an A

My brother has P6 LLB. When he got it he had it as P6LL B, and had a non-standard 6 that didn't have the top bit so it looked like a 'b' he then put a screw through the bottom of it and as if by magic 'h'. Then he put a screw through the bottom of the first L to make it look like an 'i'.

Therefore PhiL B.

his name Phil B.

First time there was a copper behind him he got pulled and got a Vehicle Rectification Order.

most of the time you wil get a rectification notice but if you continue to space it illegally
then the dvla can revoke the number
loads of mulah to be wasted imo

Thats not obviously wrong though, until you get stopped in which can you are basically on false plates. You would just assume that is 220 and drive past it unless you knew otherwise.

I drove round with C2 0XE spaced as C20XE for 4 years with no probs.

Drove to Cornwall to get new car and transfer reg and got pulled and a £60 fine 2 days before taking it off the car.

Whether you get pulled or not depends on the force normally
