Right, after calling my insurance, and getting an excellent quote of £160 extra to convert my current 1.2 8v to a gsi 1.6 16v engine, its going ahead

Few questions though...I have a 1.4 gearbox, am I right in thinking with the 1.4 box it'l be quicker off the line, but top out quicker also?

Is the only difference between the 1.4/1.6 gboxes the longer ratio's?

Also, the exhaust system, had a look on the Bay, spotted the OMP stainless system for around £178?

What do you guys use on yours?

thanks

Dont know about the gearbox but id imagine a 1.4 box would give quicker aceleration as for the exhaust id go for a standard 1.6 system with a back box on.

I was kinda looking for something a bit more bling than standard, Been looking at a 4-2-1 manifold too...think it was dbilas? maybe lexmaul cant remember.

Dont want something that makes it sound raspy like the pro-tech ones though?

OMP exhausts are aimed at rally boys rather than boy racers. I'd get one mate

use either an f13 or f15 CR box. I have a spare f15CR box if you need one.

ALL 4-2-1/4-1 manifolds will make it raspy...

I had a Janspeed though, it wasn't as bad as the protec ones.

Either box will be fine.

Dave A, how much difference is there between a standard F15 and the close ratio one? i.e....what can I expect it to 'top out' at?

Robin..which would be best for mid rang acceleration? 4-1?

cheers

4-2-1.

a standard 16xe, you're talking about 119mph top end on an F13CR, 121 on an F15CR, according to vauxhall's figures.

You don't have a 1.4 though.
