Hey guys,
Time to upgrade my PC not all that clued up on the current specs at the moment.
I want to keep my current PSU (Enermax 450W), Mouse, Soundcard, Speakers, 17" TFT, DVDWriter,
Is my old PSU still capable by today's standard?
I won't be playing any games probably, if I do it will be older games which won't require the latest £700 graphics card.
I will be playing alot of movies though.
Motherboard's VGA ports will be ok for my needs right?
What I require:
AMD CPU 64bit (at least 3200+) + Heatsink/cooler.
1 GB RAM (Must be decent no budget ram)
(or 2 GB RAM if my budget permits)
Motherboard
Hard drive At least 120GB
My current (now dead spec, think maybe bad ram/cpu)
AMD XP 1800+
512,512,256 (1.3gig) Corsair DDR333 PC2700
80gig lol
Ok i'm assuming these motherboards are all SATA now. Is there easy way of transfering my data from my old IDE drive to the new SATA drive?
I just need rough specs for my £200-£250 budget.
All i need is CPU/RAM/HD/Mobo. I don't play games, I do watch movies, I use notepad... sometimes 
Oh I know this is long shot, but will my £200-250 system run vista well? Or would I be better worthwhile sticking with XP Pro?

ebuyer.co.uk go for the AM2 Sockets (athlon 4200+ etc)
you old parts should be ok, motherboard may need a power converter to the new types.
Most motherboards also have 1 IDE an you can also buy PCI to IDE converters if you need. I;d stick with XP mate but if you want vista get 2 gig of ram

I think your motherboard will require the 24pin connection instead of the 22pin (??).
Also, newer mobo requires an additional 4 pin power too, so i dont think the PSU will be suited.
Mothboard VGA port will be ok for XP, but i wouldnt recommend vista for that because its very heavy UI.

why go am2 when he can go core2duo for same price?
