Fitted my headunit out of my old corsa into my gsi today
It all works fine but in the old car you can have music on without the engine running. Are there some wires in the loom i can swap over to get it working as it did before?

thats what Ive seen on here before - from memory I think one of them is ignition live and one is permanent. Does it hold all your settings/radio stations etc?

If your headunit isn't keep radio station presets, the clock etc then you'll need to swap the red and yellow wires.
Also, my post-97 car you need the key in the ignition to listen to the radio but the engine doesn't need to be running. I put the key in, twist it 2 notches, then back down to completely off and the headunit stays on until I take the key out.

In theory yes BUT it shouldn't keep settings if you haven't tried that.
My Kenwood headunit came with strange connectors on the ISO adapter which meant swapping cables over was easy don't swap the wires over without some spade/bullet connectors etc so you can put it back easily!

going to have a bash at this tomoro, so the red coming out of the headunit goes to the yellow on the corsa loom and the red from the corsa loom goes to the yellow on the head unit?

For future reference for anyone else I swapped over the red and yellow wires. This gave the headunit permant live power however it didnt not function only the standby light was on.
I then by chance tried putting the fuse on the back of the headunit into the other slot above it and it now works perfectly.
thanks everyone for your input

yes
is this to point out that i could have just changed the fuse over to solve it. Im hoping its not as i spent ages swapping the wires over and carefully soldering them back on
