Right, once my Corsa has been painted up and all the bits come back from the powder coaters I want to get it as assembled as possible so it's a proper rolling chassis... The only issue is that I want a new block for my engine as my one needs a helicoil and I would prefer to just replace the block as I don't like helicoils..

Would I be making a really stupid mistake if I tried to fit the gearbox without an engine just so I could get the front suspension and brakes all assembled and not have to worry about taking stuff apart.

Bear in mind that I will fit the block on it's own and then put the head and sump onto the engine with the block mounted in place. I assume it's possible, but is it going to be a cunt of a job? I guess the gearbox input shaft pops out somehow to make room?

Would the gearbox sit in there alright? Passenger side mount and Rear mount would hold it in right?

Cool, will give it a shot then. Did you get the block in position without moving the input shaft?
