not the best results to find

the base circle is the area at the base of the cam, the area that isnt involved in the lift of a valve......... if that makes snese

yes it does.

So why would the lifters possibly need shimming?

Haha, prob during the week next week
The lifters may need shimming as they could have to pump up to almost their max height to meet the reduced base circle of the cam lobe, this would cause ticking if they couldn't keep up.
