clay bar leaves the paint nice and smooth though which means dirt finds it harder to bond also makes it very water repellent so stays cleaner for longer
But for the time it takes me to do it and the cost of all the equipment for a car i use everyday i'd prefer to spend £5 a week to get the drive through to do it for me!
each to their own i enjoy cleaning my car though

spong is bad for the paintwork ?
yep drags the dirt across the paintwork leaving fine scratches(swirl marks)
a good wool wash mitt is perfect plus they are long lasting if looked after
how the fuck do u clean a car with a bucket of water and a wool mitt sounds stupid

Sponge will fuck your paintwork, just carries the grit all over your car causing scratches and swirl marks. Use Microfibre or Lambswool mitts.
lambswool only imo microfibre mits do just the same as sponges tbh

Every 3 months is acceptable i suppose!
I like washing my car but rarely have the time to plus if i give it a quick wash it normally looks shit, the polish guys do it better. Saying that i did spend a long time on my 106 the other weekend and it does still look good but i haven't driven it anywhere!

remove the polishing part if you do it weekly polishing that often is pointless

Grit sits on the surface of a sponge so it just gets dragged about, whereas with a mitt it sits up in the fibres not on the surface.
