I use wax it wet for my car - great stuff - beads quite well and so easy to use - but I can't offer any more advice as that's all I use and a chamois lol

The clay removes the surface contaminents washing cant remove. E.G tree sap, tar, bugs, etc. It prepares the paintwork, ready for polishing > sealing > waxing.

the engine bay is easy:

just warm engine, spray or brush on Gunk or Tetroclean, wait for 3-4 minutes, start engine and pressure wash it; leave car for about 15mins running (helps dry the water quicker). Spray some vinyl and rubber cleaner, wipe off excess. DONE

Sealing comes before waxing mate. The sealant also gives the wax something to bond to.
