I feel your pain as the Astra VXR uses the same paint and the front bumper looks more like a 40k car than a 10k car.
Nothing wrong with using waterbased paints at all.

If you want the paint to last though, you need to use hard laquer. The laquer they use on cheaper cars like your Vauxhalls and your Citorens is pretty soft shitty stuff in comparison to what German cars are painted with. Glasurit is the stuff they use to laquer Porsches with and they are low, you don't see many Porsches with a shot load of chips all over them

Worth a try asking for hard laquer. The way it would have been painted would be a solvent or a water based colour base and then a clear on top. It's the clear that gives the protection and the shine so you need good stuff.
I mean, the stuff Fiat uses is utter shite, it's so soft and thin it's unbelieveable. I'm tempted to get a full re-spray on my 6 month old car, be it Fiat paying for it or whatever, the paint has chipped so quickly it's an absolute joke

i said to him
" if you took your car to have the headgasket done and four weeks later it had the same problem would you not want the problem rectifying"
His reply was its obvious youve got onto some gravel or something has "peppered your bumper" im just worried it may happen again TBH aswell as ive got to remove my bumper again after just getting it to sit perfectly.

It's about 2 hours max. You need to get to M40 Junction 2...

was just thinking the same - the bodyshop owner is being too nice spraying your mirrors for free considering it left the bodyshop with no problems and stone chips are a natural occurrence. Like i said before, you certainly wouldn't have a leg to stand on in court.
Perhapps it's a lesson learnt, don't drive up people backsides

very true Dom, i just didnt think it would go quite how it has, espiecially seem as there are no chips on the bonnet at all after 7 years so i wouldnt expect it on a freshly sprayed bumper just wandering if i can ask him to do anything to try and make it stronger apart from differnt laquer
