Can anyone advise how much an engine rebuild would roughly cost?
And is it worth doing? If so, after how many miles etc?

quote from place down road from me;
2ltr 16v £700
1.8 8v £400
1.4 8v £300
I could get it done for cheaper from a friend but that was one place that I rang out of interest

So full recon engine to me is
reground crank,
rebore,
skimmed head,
new pistons with rings
new big and main shells
new oil pump or gears,
full gasket set,
decoked head valves cut and lapped in and rebuilt,
then depending on the engine customers own hydraulics and cam or replacements on some.
(for example cvhs never included cam or tappets in the price were always extra)
So they do all that for a 1.4 8v for £300?
