I know somebody does it somewhere in manchester, but is there anybody else that does it?

What do they actually do? What tools are needed?

Thanks

any top-line body shop will use a plastic welder. they work in the same way as a normal welder, but there is an iron that heats the plastic up, then feeds hot plastic onto, into what-ever your welding.

the kit (welder) is used to fix cracks in bumpers mostly, to save replacing the whole bumper, it can be repared.

or they can be used to modify bumpers both of my x bumpers were welded, inc the recess. that had a large piece of a rover 220 welded in

I've done plastic welding on a Mk3 Golf dash conversion with a kit from Demon Tweeks. Basically a hot air gun with plastic rods and a feeder type thing. Not that good to be honest, rods were poor quality and brittle when dried.
