I have standard 18x7.5 ET 35 5x100 PCD
I want 18x7.5 ET 45 5x100 PCD

If I get a decent set of 10mm hubcentric spacers will this put the wheel back to the normal position?. Will the spacer affect the handling?. Also how big a spacer can be fitted if say the new wheels do not clear the caliper?. If I go 20mm will that be silly and cause problems, handling etc or would it only be like putting a 10mm on the standard wheels?.

I have no idea with aftermarket alloys as I have never purchased a set.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Allan

Ignore that.

10mm spacer on the new wheels will make it ET35, so the handling will be like it was before, and the wheel will sit in the same place within the arch.

Thank you Robin now if there is a clearence problem ie the standard brembos are a bitch for finding wheels. Can I go say 12mm or 15mm etc.. or will this throw it to pot?.

I'd say you can probably go with up to about 20mm in total without any major problems.

That's what I was thinking as I'm sure people have put on 10mm spacers on the standard wheels. So a 20mm spacer would be the max but a little less would be better if I can say get away with a 12mm or 14mm spacer etc..?

Thank you for your help Robin.

I'm guessing it's not a good idea to alter the cars gemometry much but it's confusing when tyre widths and offsets are used. They obviously put the wheels of the that size and spacing for a reason.

To be honest, on most modern cars it's not a major issue, lots of people run silly offsets without issues, but then on other cars it can make it tramline all over the place, so it's a bit risky sometimes

Cheers Robin, just today been to demon tweeks and they they tested the fitment. Needed a 20mm spacer to clear the Brembos by 5mm. 15mm spacers were too tight. So have only altered the track width 13mm on each side. Guy said any problems I can go back.

So I just ordered these today with spacers and mcguard lock nuts. Also had to buy the stud conversion kit for the spacers but it wasn't that much for the kit

PS. I got the standard offset wrong they are 38 not 35.

you probably want some longer wheel bolts, or some decent spacers like some H&R ones.

The spacers are Eibach ones and I have already sorted the stud conversion with them. Will be using nuts now.
