agreed, if you take a life, and its proven, or admitted, you should lose yours

just if you admit it you lose it in a more humane way

People always get confused about life sentences... it doesn't literally mean life imprisonment. It means you're on licence for life. Ive seen someone get 'life' with an 8 year tariff and ive seen someone get 'life' with a 30 year tariff.
The thing with life sentences though is that you serve the whole term, where with 'normal' sentences you generally serve half.

Exactly my point. why is it referred to as in anyway 'life' when you serve 12 years for murder?

As i said the 'life' part just means you're on a life licence i.e commit any offence after you're released and you can be re-called to prison for an unlimited period.

Normal sentence... for example 4 years imprisonment - You'll serve 2 years in custody and then 2 years in the community on licence. Commit any offence in the 'licence' part of your sentence and you can be sentenced for the new offence, and re-called for the whole 2 years on top.

A life sentence... for example 15 years - you'll spend the whole 15 years in custody and then be released into the community on licence for life. Commit any offence in the licence period (your whole life) and you can be re-called for that period.

I'm not going to argue with that Craig. What you posted is 'correct'

It doesn't happen though, when these sorts get out there is fuck all recall back to the initial sentencing (sp) the CPU simply dont have the time/budget to follow up the cases.

It's a sad but true fact

CPU? You mean CPS?

It does happen Jules, i work in a Crown Court so see it all the time. It doesn't/cannot get ignored, if an offender commits a crime when they're on licence they're back infront of the judge for the new offence, and the re-call on the old offence. The judge has the power to make the defendant serve the whole licence period in custody, whether or not he/she does though is a completley different matter...

We seem to be the only Country interpreting the European convention of human rights in such a severe way. For example 5 lads get into a fight in Spain and the Police literally beat them to the ground, arrest them and that's accepted. In this country if the Police did that then there would be outcry and people would say it's a disgraceful way for the Police to behave yet both Countries signed up to the same bit of legislation For me it should be the human rights of the people who haven't comitted offences that should be upheld.

Don't vote labour next time.

Labour have ruined this country, Labour = Era of the chav, gangs, knifings, shootings, paying the dossers, victimising the tax payer, support the minority, ignore the majority.

Worst thing ever is Labour. I will be making sure not to vote for them in the next election.

As for the above, absolutly disgusting, human rights to be sent back to his country? Kill a teacher in our country, witha gun shot to the head (so he MEANT to do it), and he wasn't even meant to be here.
