a mate when with his missus a few years back, said it was a fairly nice place were he stayed. But as with all places, Im sure it has its dumps aswell.
Personally speaking, in the Caribbean, Ive been to St Lucia, Dominican Republic and Antigua (also Cancun which is around there if you want to include that!) and they have all been really really nice places.

I'm looking at hols at the minute with the mrs, reading on the net Cuba sounds like a bit of a dump. Most reviews say even the hotel staff beg you for clothes.
We are going for the Dominican Republic I think.

Isnt that one of the places you need personal security to go anywhere other than the hotel? And im sure theres some kind of rule about not being allowed back into USA, or maybe thats if your a US citizen

Cuba? Nah, one of its main incomes is tourism so the vast majority of places are perfectly safe. Obviously though you can end up the wrong places if your not careful, but saying that you could in most cities in the UK!!

Go to one of the hotels on Cayo Coco with Thomas Cook, they are gorgeous. All inclusive for about £500. There's a little hut on the beach making all you can drink mohitos 24 hours. I went this year and it was amazing

me and the missus went to cuba last year. went to cayo coco which is a small national park island off the north east coast.
it was fucking paradise. weather was glorious and the people were extremely friendly and couldnt do enough for you.
personally i wouldnt go somewhere like havana other than on a day trip as you have to remember cuba isnt the wealthiest of countries so aint gonna be posh and tidy in places
we stayed at the "tryp cayo coco" resort all inclusive and had a cracking time
off to cozumel in mexico in a few weeks if the hurricane doesnt wipe it out
and remember that when booking anything in the carribean you should look for 4* at least cos theyre 4* is slightly lower ratings than our* over here

I went to Cuba about 6 years ago and it was amazing, stayed 4 nights in Havana which yer it was abit of a dump as they had to hot wire the 1970's taxi's but it is worth seeing as it was totally different to anything i'd seen before. Also if you go to Havana you can go to the cigar factory which is a gud trip. We spent the rest of the time in an all inclusive beach resort and the weather was glorious and no one begged you for clothes etc would deffo go again
