Hi,

I sprayed my bootlock yesterday using primer, paint and laquer. Should I have used plastic primer? or filler primer instead?

Im about to make a trip to Halfrauds and get some more stuff to do my centre console, maybe my arches :S What would you reccomend I get?

I might consider doing my bootlock again beucase its not all that smooth, should I use filler primer for this? urgh... I dont have a clue really.

In short; Im spraying my bootlock again, my centre console and my arches, what primer will I need, beasring in mind that Im not too good at getting an 'amazingly smooth' finish with sandpaper.

Thanks!

when i sprayed interior plastics i used plastic primer, paint, loadsa laquer - all out of a spray tin. Saw them in Halfrauds and went to the shop down the road which had basical;ly the same stuff but for less than half the price, so i would advise you dont go there if theres anywhere else.

Me and a mate have done his boot lock, center console, and some other parts.
We used p80, p200, p400, p800 then p1200 sandpaper go get it feeling dead smooth. We then primerd the plastic. If I remerber rightly we couldnt see much differnce between plasic primer and a standard primer . When sprayed the plasic the colour we required, followed by two thick coats of laquer.

It's abit of a mission with the sandpaper thing but well worth it! Got got great results!

Hope this helps!

I did it yesterday, I sprayed the centre console and the bootlock. Im tempted to do my arches... not sure though. Is this spray as waterproof as the rest of the coat on the car?

yes mate its fully waterproof just do the same as the inside, you might want more lacquer though to match the shine of your car.
