Building a PC for a friend
Have installed new processor (AMD 64 X2 4200+)
New motherboard (MSI K9VGM-V)
New ram (2x 512mb DDR2 matched cosair)
An old harddrive (80gig IDE) need to format to install XP
Computer switches on, fans work, power and HDD led stay on the front but no signal to the monitor
Have tried swapping the ram sticks over, then tried them in another computer and they work fine
Graphics are on-board (only for surfing etc) and AFAIK all jumpers are set
Any ideas?

take the battery off the motherboard and the power cable out, leave it for ten minutes, both back in, switch on.

Have you put a floppy drive in?
If so you may have the IDE cable wrong way around, either that or miss-pinned one of the motherboards sockets.
My money would be on the floppy though *IF there is one there*

If the battery trick didnt work, leave everything installed in the cae but unplug everything apart from PSU and CPU. Plug your monitor in and if it works then its something else fucking it up, if it doesnt then it is your PSU, CPU or monitor Also, it could just be due to a cable in the wrong way round, I had a USB header plugged in backwards way round somehow and the PC wouldnt boot, so unplugging everything apart from the important bits will rule this sort of error out

Thanks for the updates
Have cleared the CMOS and changed the psu for a 500w... no difference
Removed all drives so just motherboard cpu and ram (graphics are onboard) and still nothing

like i said it sounds like the graphics on the mb, if everything was powering up but no signal was going to the monitor, then the graphics output isn't working correctly.
